Earning a Vacation

The formula for vacation qualification is both simple and complicated.
It is complicated if you are trying to figure out where all of these numbers come from but the actual calculation is simple.

An employee needs 240 inflated starts to qualify for a vacation.
Basically, you need 180 130 mile basic day road starts, or 150 100 mile basic day yard starts.
To calculate take miles run divided by 130 then multiply this number by 1.335 for road service or 1.6 for yard service, this will give you your inflated days.

In the case of the North Loop, a round trip counts as 5.31 inflated starts.
Divide 240 by 5.31 and you get 45.
This means that you have to have 45 round trips on the North Loop to qualify for a vacation.
If you have worked in the yard, on the local, a work train, drawn guarantee days, etc. this number will change, as those will count as 100 mile or 130 mile basic days.

Personal leave days are credited one for one with no inflation factor, vacation days do not count towards vacation qualification.
